Switching up ..

Yesterday was errands day ! First up and very importantly we had to go and get a frozen banana. I am obsessed with Arrested Development and hired the studio based on its proximity to the famous Balboa Island Banana Stand. I got a chocolate /peanut combo . Pretty nice considering if i am honest i like neither chocolate nor bananas.


Afterwards we took a pedal so i could change up my back cog to be cranking it on a more LA appropriate gearing for them long and straight roads! We hit up this awesome wee bike/used camera store shop in Costa Mesa . Got to catch some of the Bootleg Sessions 3 in the shop which was cool as im missing the London premiere at 14. We also saw an $8000 golden Cinelli frame in the shop. Nice if a little excessive but i guess thats what the OC is all about!

After that we took a ride to Huntington Beach where it was freezing. I made a pretty sweet towel cape to keep myself warm. We then went to Blackies and drank some gin and tonics and forgot drinks in the USA are 1000 times stronger than at home.

Going to take the bikes to LA tomorrow and hit the vintage stores in Melrose before catching up with my good friends Paul and Rosie in Silverlake. I expect to see a lot of anodised bits and pieces over there, we may even play 'spot the rolled trouser leg".

The Balboa Island Ferry ..

...is my favourite way to get to the beach. $1 in and you & your bike get five minutes of chilling on a tiny boat. We also like the 'cycle home as fast as you can down PCH' game on the way home. I never win!

 This mouse, the little bird, the monkey and the kitten to come live with me and henry at the banana stand.  We would all have a lovely time together, the best time ! 

Back to the Banana Stand ..

After multiple adventures on the road we headed back to the Banana Stand on Sunday for Birthday week with Henry celebrating 33 and Melle in town for her 30th. I LOVE birthdays more than life itself so i took upon myself to be celebrations manager.
Henry was first up so we made him a birthday brunch followed by a day on the beach and a birthday BBQ in the evening. A chocolate brownie cake was made and i even managed to get him a birthday balloon from the local shop. I was way more excited about the birthday balloon than he was but he still seemed to like it alot. After the BBQ we cycled up to an 80s night in Newport Beach. We danced till the wee hours in a club which was full of Jocks and OC girls who all seemed determined to knock everything in sight over (including us). So fun though and after they played Journey I was happy to pedal home with the 33rd year old in tow! Great day. 


Continuing on the Vegas theme, Mimosas were served for brunch.

Is on my mind today and I make no excuses for my irrational of my love of kittens ! Check out this wee guy and loads of other cuteness here. Im going to try and find one we can steal for a couple of weeks at the banana stand.

Partners in crime: Henry & Julio

San Francisco

I  just spent 4 days back up in SF. Loved it , them hills are ridiculous!  I was riding hills with 'Triathlon Man' who cycles  like the speed of light. Triathlon man also put my clamp on brake on since the instructions were in Japanese. He also fetches amazing coffees so its good times.  From SF to Vegas ... as if Im not riding my bikey down the strip!  To make it even better , I am staying here  ... 

I hope this looks as steep as it was ...

I've been having ...

WAY TOO much fun for internets - I'm on a road trip mission! 

First up i went to seattle from SF. I missed Portland so I'll be going back to there. LOVED Seattle. I have amazing pals there , rode some steep hills and hung out with some amazing kittens!
I want to move to the northwest its official !


Rode without the clamp on in Seattle. Not the best idea when you're on running on a ratio of about 60!

LCC launches She Spoke

Not sure about the name but I'm fully back this ! The London Cycling Campaign who exists to be a voice of London cyclists has launched a womens' specific website to encourage more London women to get on their bikes ! My friends over at Cyclodelic have contributed to the style section and they are hosting a launch next Tuesday to get people involved. I hope that the current London heatwave is encouraging girls everywhere that travelling by bike is the way to travel .

I miss my gloves ..

Huzzah for bicycle union. I'm sad as too hot over here for them . Im also pretty happy that right now i only have to worry about wee things like this!
